 Prison Rape Elimination Act 

 POLICY 

The purpose of this policy is to:  PREA-policy

  1. Establish a zero-tolerance environment for sexual abuse in the Bonner County Juvenile Detention Center,
  2. Make the prevention of sexual abuse a top priority in the Bonner County Juvenile Detention Center,
  3. Develop and implement practices which comply with the National Standards to Prevent, Detect and Respond to Prison Rape published by the USDOJ on 6/20/2012,
  4. Make available any data and information on the incidence of sexual abuse in the Bonner County Juvenile Detention Center,
  5. Include the standardized definitions in the Bonner County Juvenile Detention Center policies,
  6. Clearly identify and express the accountability of all Bonner County Juvenile Detention Center staff, including the Director, when dealing with incidents of sexual abuse,
  7. Protect the Eighth Amendment rights of juveniles in the custody of the Bonner County Juvenile Detention Center,
  8. Increase the efficiency and effectiveness of programs with the Bonner County Juvenile Detention Center by providing a safe environment for juveniles to be free from sexual abuse within the facility.
